Abstract     Antiepileptic drugs are used for prevention of epileptic attacks. Although they are quite a heterogeneous group of medicines, they have some common properties also seen in cases of poisonings. In clinical presentation of antiepileptic drug poisonings some degree of central nerve depression, cardiac arrhythmias and seizures are present. Treatment is symptomatic, including abundant gastrointestinal tract decontamination. One must be prepared for treatment of convulsions and even status epilepticus; benzodiazepines are the drugs of choice.
