Abstract | Ecstasy, amphetamines, cocaine, ephedrine, caffeine and similar stimulants can enhance the sexual experience, but their overdose can also cause tremor, tachycardia, hypertension, hyperventilation, seizures and hyperthermia. Stimulants can also cause erection problems and therefore users ingest sildenafil or similar drugs concomitantly. Sildenafil overdose can result in hypotension, tachycardia, headache, flushing, tremor and visual disturbances. Nitrites are popular aphrodisiacs, but can cause hypotension, headache, nausea and syncope. Unfortunately drugs are sometimes used to assist a sexual assault. The most commonly used drugs to commit sexual assault are alcohol, benzodiazepine, ketamine and gamma-hydroxybutyrate. Because of the effect of these drugs, victims may be physically helpless, unable to refuse sex, and can't remember what happened. | |
