Abstract     Acute mesenteric ischaemia is an emergency, clinically most often presented with severe abdominal pain, followed by nausea and vomiting. It leads to bowel gangrene, peritonitis and septic shock some hours after onset. Our task is to assess diagnosis as soon as possible understanding laboratory findings and using non-invasive and invasive imaging. Therapeutic strategies depend on caus of ischaemia and degree of bowel injury. Anticoagulant therapy can be used as monotherapy, but most often laparotomy and necrotic bowel resection are performed. This is followed by vasodilator papaverin infusion via angiographic catheter in superior mesenteric artery for some day.
