Abstract     Reproductive data before and after hysteroscopic metroplasty were compared. There were two groups of women: 483 women with a large septum (1.5 cm to total) and 450 women with arcuate uterus {septum length: 1.3-1.5 cm). After surgery in both groups of women the spontaneous abortion rate decreased from 83% to 19% and from 82% to 16% and preterm birth rate from 44% to 8 % and from 41 % to 10% respectively (P<0.000). After surgery in both groups the pregnancy/ET rate m IVF/ICSI cycles mcreased from 15% to 26% and from 14% to 29% and the abortion rate decreased from 72% to 20% and from 69% to 19% respectively (P<0.000). The arcuate uterus is an important hysteroscopically preventable reproductive health risk factor and should therefore stay in the classification of uterine anomalies.
