Abstract		Effective treatment of hemostatic disorders demands safe high-quality blood components. Every institution preparing blood components must have a completed system for the control of quality parameters . On entry of Slovenia in the European Union, the Council of Europes Guide to the preparation, use and quality assurance of blood components became legally binding. The introduced quality system (ISO 9001:2000), including a satisfactory production, laboratory and clinical practice, allows us to prepare safe blood components of high quality.
