Abstract | Abstract In lower limb control for incompletely paralyzed patients by FES, rule-based control has been mainly used. However, parameters and algorithm needed to be optimized for each patient. In EMG-driven type lower limb FES control, that we propose here, patient's EMG is used as control signal, so as to decrease the number of parameters to adjust. Also it can be expected that the control is applicable to a series of motions, e.g.,transfer from bed to wheelchair, standing up, walking, and so on. In this report, we confirmed the effectiveness of this method for the FES assisted walking of healthy person. We also examined the optimal arrangement of EMG measurement electrodes and stimulation electrodes. | |
