| Abstract | We obtained the gonad volume and oocyte number in a single Venerupis pullastro (Montagu, 1803) using unbiased stereological estimators. Since the gonad is not a fixed anatomical structure and is merged with other organs in the clam, we used new variance expressions to study the efficiency of these estimators, where the isotropy condition is not required for the covariogram. | |
