Abstract		An inventarisation of habitat types was carried out in an area of the lower River Sava, between Vrhovo and Blanca. The obtained results presented a status of nature near the river and served as a document for the spacial planning of hydroelectric power plants. In 2003 an area between present HE Vrhovo and planned HE Boštanj and in 2004 the neighbouring area down to the village Blanca were surveyed. The results showed the differences in the land use and the preservation status of the area. We determined 7 HT with the status of conservation priority in EU. Some measures were proposed for the reduction of impacts on the environment or as a substitute for the destroyed habitats.
