Abstract     A child with motor skills disorders can learn to ski. This article attempts to present the adaptive parallel track skiing techniques for children with movement disorders and additional disturbances and the role of an occupational therapist in the interdisciplinary team. One of the goals of skiing school is besides child's learning to ski also his getting separated from his parents and becoming independent in the field of occupation. The article presents the influence of changed environment on the level of independence in basic daily activities, movement and social behaviour. The research pattern included 23 children who were included into adapted winter skiing school. The Paediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI) test showed the comparison of the state at the beginning and at the end of skiing school. The results showed that the level of independence increased mostly in daily activities especially in the group of children aged 5 to 8 years. At children from 9 to 11 years of age the greatest improvement was in the field of social behaviour. Children included into such forms of skiing schools make great progress in all fields on the level of occupation as well as on the level of components.
