Abstract     Neglect is considered to consist of a number of symptoms. For this reason patients fail to respond to objects and subjects with the injured side of the brain. The cause is the lesion of the brain on contra lateral side. Neglect is usually caused by stroke or injuries in the right hemisphere. Some patients have attention-deficit disorders, other have problems vith perception as for example spatial representation. There is, however, a lack of methods for assessing the consequences of unilateral neglect. Therapists measure the functional impact of neglect with observation, planning intervention and evaluation. The intervention approaches in occupational therapy are divided into two general categories: the adaptive functional approach and remedial approach. The recovery process is slow and it is very important how the occupational therapist support and guide patients in different phases of the rehabilitation process.
