Abstract     Hypercalcemia is common metabolic error. It is caused by primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and malignoma in 90%, other diseases are rare. PHPT is more common in general practice, on the other hand, malignoma is more frequent in hospitalized patients. The majority of patients with hypercalcemia and nephrolithiasis has PHPT, but seldom sarcoidosis or familial hypocalciuric hypercalcemia (FHH). Although the incidence of PHPT is relatively low in patients with nephrolithiasis, it is important to recognize the disease. In such cases, recurrent ncphrolithiasis can be prevented by treatment of PHPT.
