Abstract		The elderly are at risk already because of changes in their physiology and that is enhanced still by the concomitant use of prescribed and OTC medicines. They are at risk of developing side-effects or drug-drug interactions because of the changed physiology, polypharmacy and comorbidity. Absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion may be altered. Drug interactions may often be the reason of increased morbidity and an increased admission rate to hospitals.
