Abstract		The main purpose of neurological assessment of newborn is recognition of optimality and, on the other side, recognition of abnormal neurological signs, orientation towards the etiology and therapeutic approach. Our experience shows that understanding of anatomical and physiological basis of newborns' central nervous system functioning enables us to recognize abnormalities in an early phase.
