Abstract     Nursing and midwifery education are presented in paper. Curriculum and Course with title Care of the children, mothers and families are presented. The WHO European strategy for nursing and midwifery education based on competences of teachers and mentors, teaching and learning strategies and characteristic of educating program are described. There are some specific of contemporary educating programs such as: critical thinking, student-centered education and contemporary teaching and learning strategies. The process of application the study subject into practice at University Ljubljana in Slovenia is presented. The student-centered approach, successfully strategies, educating and clinical process going on at the same time, advantages of use the student portfolio and care for safety of children and families in the time of educating process in clinical setting are stressed. Educating programs should take on at active collaboration between university and clinical setting and make possible the transfer to students in the European unit.
