Abstract     Injuries to the forearm and wrist are very common. One fifth of all injuries in emergency department is trauma of wrist and forearm. Most of this injuries can be successfully treated with proper reduction and static or dynamic immobilization. Decision.for nonoperative or operative treatment of such injuries depends on many factors. Some factors have changed in recent years. New operative and anestheziologic techniques are safer for the patient thus decision to operate is more rapid. The patients' expectations are also higher than they were. In this paper we try to draw a line between injuries that should be treated operatively and those that can be successfully treated nonoperatively. Methods of reduction and nonoperative retention are also described.
