| Abstract | The article presents attitudes of the students of nursing care towards terminally ill and dying and on palliative health and nursing care. The results of the inquiry among the students of the third year of nursing care on the High School of Nursing in Ljubljana on terminally ill and dying patients and on their attitude towards euthanasia are presented. 50 students were included in the study. All of them are support the idea of palliative nursing care, while their attitudes towards euthanasia differ. The majority of them do not support the idea of euthanasia because of the possibility of abuse. The study also revealed that the majority of the students feel they do not get enough knowledge on the work with the dying. The results of the inquiry also reveal that the students lack specific knowledge which would enable them to state their argument in favor or against palliative nursing care and euthanasia; in future, more subjects concerning nursing care of the terminally ill and palliative nursing care should be included in the teaching program. Students should also be enticed to think and discuss these problems more often. | |
| Summary | V članku so predstavljeni nekateri pogledi in odnos študentov zdravstvene nege do hudo bolnih in umirajočih ter do paliativne zdravstvene oskrbe in nege. V nadaljevanju so predstavljeni rezultati ankete med študenti tretjega letnika zdravstvene nege na Visoki šoli za zdravstvo v Ljubljani o odnosu do hudo bolnih in umirajočih in njihov pogled na evtanazijo. Anketiranih je bilo 50 študentov. Študentje podpirajo paliativno zdravstveno nego, njihov odnos do evtanazije pa je različen. Pomisleke pri zagovarjanju evtanazije imajo predvsem zaradi možnosti zlorab. Raziskava tudi ugotavlja, da večina študentov meni, da v času študija dobijo premalo znanja za delo z umirajočimi. Rezultati ankete kažejo, da študentom manjka znanja, da bi lahko uspešno zagovarjali svoja stališča do paliativne zdravstvene nege in stališča proti evtanaziji oziroma zanjo. Tako bi bilo potrebno v prihodnje vključiti v učni program več vsebin o zdravstveni negi umirajočih in o paliativni zdravstveni negi. Študente bi bilo treba spodbujati k razmišljanju in argumentiranem razpravljanju o tej problematiki. | |
