Abstract		Never in the past have parents paid so much attention to their children as they do today. The fundamental issue is socialization of children, with which parents try to give them the best possible chances of success in society. Postmodern family is characterized by rapid changes the environment provides endless opportunities from which children and young people must choose. This creates complex personalities and the profession of family practice is also aware of the importance of a holistic approach in medicine. In their treatment strategies, family practitioners include all three dimensions - the biological, psychological and social dimension. Emergence of diseases and their treatment are related to each of these three areas.
Summary		Nikoli v preteklosti se starši niso toliko ukvarjali z otroki, kot se danes. Temeljna naloga staršev je socializacija otrok, preko katere jim skušajo zagotoviti najboljša izhodišča za uspeh v družbi. Delovanje sodobnih družinskih oblik je zaznamovano s hitrim tempom in spremembami: iz okolja prihaja neskončno spodbud za dejavnosti, otroci in mladostniki so postavljeni pred številne izbire. Tako se izoblikujejo celovite osebnosti in tudi družinska medicina se zaveda, da je pri obravnavi bolnikov na ravni osnovnega zdravstva potreben celostni pristop. To pomeni upoštevanje biopsihosocialnih osnovnih dejavnikov, ker so vsi ti dejavniki videni kot možen izvor bolezni in hkrati področja, pri katerih se poskrbi za preventivo in ustrezno zdravlj enj e.
