Abstract		New guidelines for the prophylaxis and treatment of venous thrombosis are summarised in the report of the Seventh Conference on Antithrombotic Therapy. In acutely ill patients admitted for hospital prevention of venous thrombosis, high prophylactic doses of low molecular weight heparin should be used. The majority of patients with acute deep venous thrombosis can be treated at home. For patients with active cancer and deep venous thrombosis, treatment with low molecular heparin is recommended for the first 3-6 months. There is no limitation on walking during the acute phase of deep venous thrombosis.
Summary		Nove smernice za preprečevanje in zdravljenje venske tromboze so strnjene v sedmem, soglasno sprejetem priporočilu mednarodnih izvedencev za obravnavo venske tromboze. Internistični bolniki, ki se zdravijo v bolnišnici zaradi akutne bolezni, naj prejemajo zaščito z visokimi preventivnimi odmerki nizkomolekularnega heparina. Večino bolnikov z akutno vensko trombozo zdravimo ambulantno, bolnike z aktivnim rakom prvih šest mesecev zdravimo z nizkomolekularnim heparinom. Bolnikom z akutno vensko trombozo hoje ne omejujemo.
