Abstract     The paper deals with diagnostics and treatment of digestive tract diseases caused by prevailance of aggressive factors over the defensive ones. The aggresive factors including, according to the latest cognition leukotriene (LTB4) and PAF (Plated Activating Factor) have been treated particularly. The drugs which would affect that degree of disease development are still under research and not in use. At the same time many new drugs are being used, particularly the latest antagonists of H2-receptors and omeprazol. By 24-hour pH-metering some of previous and longkept convictions were corrected and diagnostics improved resulting in higher treatment success. The detailed description of non-ulcer dyspepsia is given as well as of gastroesophageal reflux, and symptoms and treatment of esophagitis. In those cases omeprazol exhibited the best results. In the chapter dealing with gastric and duodenal ulcer the importance of non-steroid antiinflammatory agents is stressed together with the mode of their treatment. With particular attention the diagnostics and treatment of Helibacter pylori are dealt with, although the treatment of that gastric mucosa infection is still a doubtful matter due to numerous side-effects. An account of treatment in refractory and reccurent ulcers is also given. The criteria for maintenance therapy are listed. At the end of the paper the diet is mentioned as unnecessary.
