Abstract     The process of transportation of an injured patient actually starts when the emergency phone call is made.lt is essential to know as many details about the accident as we can get to optimize our following intervention. Once on-scene it is always necessary to maintain our own and the patient's safety. Firemen and the police are also always present. We start with the evaluation before the transportation ofan injured patient to the rescue vehicle; we need to assess the vital signs and the presence of major injuries in addition to the burn. The patient suspected of having carbon monoxide needs to be immediately treated with high flow oxygen by mask. If there are any signs of possible airway burns, the patient is sedated and intubated without any delay. In all cases, IV line insertion is needed, on both arms at least, G 16 for administration of Ringer lactate. We cover the burned areas with sterile Burnshield sheets and we take care of additional injuries. In the rescue vehicle we need to monitor the blood pressure, pulse, oxygenation and ECG. During the transportation we alert the receiving facility about our arrival. When handing over the patient to the receiving doctor, we have to carefully fill in a protocol about the accident, patient's status and our treatment.
