Abstract		Hypertensive emergencies can be defined as severe elevations of blood pressure in the presence of acute organ damage. On the other hand the hypertensive urgencies are characterised by severe elevations of blood pressure without evidence of acute target organ damage. Both conditions havet o be treated properly according to Guidelines. Summary of diagnostic procedures and therapy are described.
