Abstract     Patient population in Prehospital Emergency Department of Community Health Centre in Ljubljana is very heterogeneous. This study focuses on chest pain patients. Chest pain is second most common presenting symptom, after abdominal pain. During selected period we treated 202 patients with chest pain. In 95% of patients ECG was taken and in 67% cardiac marker troponin I was measured. More than half of troponin I tests were performed as the bedside tests. Other laboratory tests were performed in 78% and chest x-ray in 30% of patients. Two thirds of patients received some sort of treatment. Average time to discharge was 2 hours 3 minutes, but only 29 minutes in acute myocardial infarct patients. Bedside troponin I test decreases time to discharge in patients with positive test. Forty percent of chest pain patients were referred to hospital or clinical specialist.
