Abstract     Acute arterial hemorrhage requiring intervention may be related to trauma, neoplasm, postoperative complications and various inflammatory conditions. Transcatheter embolization is a method of choise and has markedly decreased the morbidity and mortality associated with hemorrhage in suitable patients. It is typically performed when the bleeding vessel is expendable and can be used together with other operative or conservative treatment. Embolization can be used as a definitive or temporary procedure (to enable survival until definitive treatment). Most often, metallic coils or particulate agents are used. The most common major postprocedural complication include ischemia and infarction. However with modern technology and skilled operator the incidence of complications is very low. Our experiences with hemorrhage control in different anatomic regions (thorax, abdomen, pelvis and extremities) will be discussed throughout the presentation.
