Abstract		The work ofan anaesthesia nurse is specific. It requires a suitable level of general abilities, enabling the adaptation to changing situations. Most important is the level of attention and the ability to direct attention. The monitoring of a patient requires unchangeable and stable attentiveness. The performance, besides the required abilities, depends primarily on personality integration. The required level ofpersonality integration prevents panic, unadapted reactions of a nurse, and assures reactions which are appropriate to the given situation. The understanding of requirements and burdens is valuable for the nurse, as it enables her to understand which investments are most important if she wants to work efficiently during all her working years.
