Abstract		Functional electrical stimulation (FES) enables artificial muscular contractions and in this way functional movements in (partially) paralyzed extremities. FES can be used predominantly in patients with central motor neuron lesions manifesting with different clinical pictures. From technological point of view three kinds of electrical stimulation are possible: transcutaneous, percutaneous and subcutaneous stimulation, regarding types of electrodes. FES can be applied as single, dual or multichannel stimulation. Different systems for the use of FES are also described, their advantages and disadvantages.
Summary		S funkcionalno električno stimulacijo (FES) umetno izvabljamo mišične kontrakcije in s tem funkcionalne gibe pri (delno) ohromelih udih. FES prihaja v poštev predvsem pri pacientih z okvaro centralnih motoričnih nevronov z različnimi kliničnimi stanji. S tehnološkega vidika ločimo glede na vrste elektrod transkutano, perkutano in subkutano električno stimulacijo, z enim, dvema ali večjim številom stimulacijskih kanalov. V članku so opisane možnosti aplikacije različnih sistemov za FES, njihove prednosti in slabosti.
