Abstract		The plans for development of a software tool for storage and retrieval of various types of textual and image data are presented. The heart of the system will be the knowledge-base of medical technical terms based on data compiled in the framework of the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) project coordinated by National Library of Medicine, USA. Among the central research problems are developments of the knowledge-base of technical terms, building and administration of data bases with diverse data in dynamic environment, automatic subject indexing and natural langunge processing of queries. Because the bulk of texts in our medicine is written in Slovene and English, all of the language-dependent functions must be adapted to bilinguality.
