Abstract | Measurements of the partial pressure of exhaled carbon dioxide (petCO2) via capnometry/capnography have several useful clinical applications. This article reviews petCO2 value during emergency endotracheal intubation and how their use in identifying a correct placement of an endotracheal tube. The article also deals with petCO2 haemodynamic assessment applications, evaluation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation efficacy through petCO2 values and possible prognosis of survival from cardiopulmonary arrest in prehospital setting. It also reviews our published research about reliability of capnometry/capnography in various situations in prehospital setting. | |
