Abstract     The dentist's work requires great precision, it is carried out in a small area with difficult access, on patients who are often tense. All this makes dentistry a physically and mentally demanding profession. Applying ergonomic principles in the dental office reduces the stress and strain on the dental team, increases the safety of work, reduces the costs of care and improves patient comfort. The prerequisites are knowledge of the ergonomic principles of work, appropriate design and equipment of the dental office, a suitable appointment system and a well-organized dental team. In an ergonomically designed environment the dentist and the dental assistant have a good view of the working field while maintaining a physiological sitting position. Both the physical well-being of the dental team and the quality of care offered to the patients are improved.
