| Abstract | Slovene legislation in the field of scientific research, including cardiology, defines the principles and goals as well as regulates the methods of implementing research activities financed under the national budget and other financial sources (European programmes and funds, local communities, and economy) oriented towards achieving the goals of public and economic growth in Slovenia. It also defines the organization of research activities and conditions for implementation. The content and perspectives of research performed in cardiology are broad as they encompasse treatment, prevention, diagnostics, epidemiology and quality of life. Future perspectives of research in cardiology are defined in the Seventh Framework Programme for research and technological development (FP7), which is the European Union's (EU) primary funding mechanism for research in Europe. The aim of the article is to introduce the legislation in force in the field of research in cardiology as well as future perspectives. | |
