| Abstract | Enteral communicable diseases (ECD) are fecally or orally transmitted diseases. A typical dinical picture of ECD consists of is diarrhea. Surveillance of ECD in Slovenia is based on obligatory notification. The average annual incidence of all notified cases of ECD in Slovenia during period from 1997 to 2006 was 756/100.000 inhabitants. One third of all notified cases of communicable diseases are ECD. They are important cause of morbidity in Slovenia.The real burden of ECD in Slovenia is not known. The notification system and outbreak investigation of ECD in Slovenia should be improved and sentinel network of outpatient departments for surveillance of ECD should be established. | |
