Abstract     In the majority of civilised countries, the incidence of breast cancer is continually growing. During the last years breast cancer is on the increase also in the Republic of Slovenia. Incidence rate ofbreast cancer in Slovenia in 1989 was 60l100.000. Conservative surgery and radiotherapy in breast cancer in stage Tl, T2, N0, N1, MO are as affective as radical or modified radical mastectomy. In the article the author discusses 63 patients with breast cancer in stage T1, T2, N0, Nl, M0. The average age ofthesepatients is 49 years. The author discusses histological diagnosis of tumors, TNM classification and the adjunctive therapy after surgery. 5-years survivals in these series were 84 per cent , and local recurrence after 5-years was 6.4 per cent . Cosmetic results are being also discussed. In all the patients with local recurrence or mortality after 5-years the histological diagnoses of tumors were: invasive ductal carcinoma, intra ductal carcinoma and invasive lobular carcinoma. The patients with local recurrence or systemic relapse are being analyzed. All our patients undergo up-to-date follow-up examination so that as early as possible evidence of local recurrence and prompt treatment are possible.
