Abstract		The success of diagnostic services for the critical care areas of a health care institution will be determined by the ability to meet the service demands-test menu and turnaround time. TAT is affected by several factors including specimen delivery, instrumentation and data transmission. The organisation of POCT using non-invasive and user-friendly techniques could improve this time, but several limitations should be considered. Laboratory professionals need to care about the organisation and quality. In any case the stat laboratory testing is more expensive than the routine laboratory testing.
Summary		Uspešnost diagnostičnih postopkov v zdravstvu lahko merimo tudi na osnovi spektra dosegljivih laboratorijskih preiskav in ciljnih časov. Na slednje vplivajo mnogi dejavniki, vključno s transportom, opremo in prenosom podatkov. Izvajanje laboratorijskih preiskav ob bolniku lahko izboljša ciljne čase, vendar moramo upoštevati številne omejitve. Laboratorijski strokovnjaki morajo skrbetii za strokovno organiziranost in kontrolo kvalitete preiskav ob bolniku. V vsakem primeru je izvajanje nujnih laboratorijskih preiskav dražje od rutinskih.
