Abstract | | In today's modern times, individuals process more decisions in one day than primitive man did during an entire lifetime. Individuals also receive the same amount of information during a period of two months than our ancestors did during their lifetime. The modern lifestyle can certainly create positive stress and motivate people toward action, but on the other hand if one cannot deal with the demands from the inner or outside world, stress can become negative and lead to psychological and physical symptoms. Which factors influence subjective stress responses? How do stressful events influence our mind and body? How can we help our patients who are under negative stress? And finally, how can we as practitioners master our own stress?
