Abstract		Appropriate management of a woman with gestational diabetes is a proven value in reduction of possible complications in a mother, a faetus and a newborn. In the review article we present the basic facts about gestational diabetes mellitus, its etiopathogenesis, epidemiology, complications, screening, diagnostics, treatment and obstetrical management. We mention (unofficial) recommendations that are followed in Slovenia in the management of a woman with gestational diabetes. We emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary approach to a woman with the disease.
Summary		Ustrezna obravnava nosečnice z nosečnostno sladkorno boleznijo dokazano zmanjša tveganje za zaplete pri materi, plodu in novorojenčku. V preglednem članku navajamo osnovna dejstva o nosečnostni sladkorni bolezni, njeni etiopatogenezi, epidemiologiji, zapletih, presejanju, diagnostiki, zdravljenju ter posebnostih v zvezi s porodom in poporodnim obdobjem. Predstavljamo (neuradno) priporočila, ki za obravnavo nosečnice z nosečnostno sladkorno boleznijo veljajo v slovenskem prostoru. Poudarjamo pomen multidisciplinarne obravnave.
