Abstract     Syncope is a frequent occurrence in children. For the child and those around him it represents an alarming situation, despite the fact that most syncopes are not dangerous for the child. This presentation deals with the types of syncope and similar conditions. It describes the initial approach to the patient and the possible differential diagnoses. Warning signs of possibly significant syncope are syncope in the supine position or during exertion, palpitations, or convulsions before the onset of the syncope. Involuntary defecation or micturition while unconscious, neurological deficit following loss of consciousness, prolonged Ioss of consciousness, recurrent syncopes and a family history of heart disease are also important. The presence of a murmur and cardiac arrhythmia in a child with syncope indicate a possible cardiac cause. Children with syncope and such data require more extensive management and referral for further subspecialist management.
Summary     Sinkopa je pri otrocih pogost dogodek. Prispevek obravnava vrste sinkop in njim podobna stanja. Opisuje začetni pristop k bolniku in diferencialno diagnostične možnosti.
