Abstract | The concept of osteoimmunology is that certain molecules link the skeletal and immune system. The receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappaB ligand (RANKL), its receptor RANK, and its natural decoy receptor osteoprotegerin have been identified as the final effector molecules of osteoclastic bone resorption. A critical element in osteoimmunology is the inducible transcription factor nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kB), which regulates gene expression during inflammatory, immune responses and osteoclast differentiation.
Ligand receptorja za aktivator jedrnega dejavnika kB (RANKL), njegov receptor RANK in naravni vabni receptor osteoprotegerin so ključne molekule osteoklastne kostne resorpcije.
