Abstract     Diagnostic examinarions in the Department of Respiratory Medicine are an indispensable part of the management of children with lung diseases. The nursing sister has a very important role in the performance of diagnostic examinations in children with lung diseases. She has an active role in gaining the child's cooperation during the examination. Often this is the most difficult task fox a nursing sister. In the Department of Respiratory Medicine of the Children's Hospital, the hospital nurse independently performs some of the diagnostic examinations, e.g.: spiromehy, methacholin test, measurements of nitrogen in exhaled air. Good performance of measurements is, to a large extent, dependent on the professionalism of the nurse, who must know how to motivate and direct the child throughout the examinarion.
