Abstract     Aim of the study: An estimation of reliability of the numerical assessment of malocclusion based on intraoral measurements of ten morphological signs of malocclusion. intraorally. Nature of the study: A cross-sectional study. Test persons and methods: A numerical assessment of malocclusion on a sample of 8-year old children, involving 101 test persons, was made on the basis of measurements of morphological signs of malocclusion intr'aorally and on a model. In all measurements the modified Eismann's method and his evaluation table for the numerical assessment of malocclusion was used. The morphological signs of malocclusion, measured intcaorally and then expressed with a number of equivalent points for each particular sign and for a combination of signs were compared with the number of equivalent points for the morphological signs of malocclusion, measured on a model. Findings: It was established that there were no statistically significant differences between the morphological signs of malocclusion measured intraorally and on models. With the help of the correlation method high correlation between the two measurements in all the morphological signs except in incisor crowding in the upper and lower jaw (0.38, 0.37) was determined. With either method it was ascertained that the two measurements were not significantly different one from another: With the statistical method of multiple regression step by step the hiecarchic order of significant. morphological signs of malocclusion, measured intraorally and on models, malocclusion. was established. In the first three places were, according to measurements intraorally and on a model: open bite, cross bite and overjet, while overbite and axial inclination of teeth were in the last two places. In measurements intraorally open bite accounts for 40 per cent , cross bite for 35 per cent , overjet for 7.5 per cent , crowding of incisors in the upper jaw for 3.(trunc.)
