Abstract     The influence of human and human-like interferons (IFN) on cells, infected with bacteria Legionella pneumophila was studied. At first, bacteria Legionella pneumophila was cultivated on WiREF cells and infective dose of bacteria, able to cause plaques, was estimated. Next, the effect of interferons on legionella infected WiREF cells was tested. It was found that cells pretreated with interferon a developed the "antibacterial state", analogous to antiviral state and were more resistent to following infection with bacteria Legionella pneumophila. Farther experiments were performed to find poible enhancement of antibacterial protection if combinations of interferons (alpha and gamma) with antibiotics (Erythromycin, Rifamycin and Midecamycin acetat) were used. It was found that combination of Hu IFN a and antibiotics slightly enhanced the antibacterial state. In case of Hu IFN gamma this effect was seen only in combination with Midecamycin acetat.
