Abstract     A clinical case of congenital left ventricular diverticulum in a two and a half-year-old boy is presented. Congenital outpouching of the left ventricle is defined as a diverticulum or aneurysm according to its contractility during ventricular systole. The differentiation between the two entities is important when discussing treatment options and outcome. Congenital outpouching of the left ventricle can be diagnosed and, in most patients, also differentiated prenatally. The outcome in asymptomatic patients with isolated left ventricular diverticulum is favourable.
