Abstract     On 21 randomly selected schools from the whole Slovenia, the state of motoric abilities and physical characteristics and their connections to the burdening of children were analysed four times yearly (September, December, June, September). It was ascertained that the state of motoric abilities is much worse as in similar comparative studies from the years 1970 and 1983. The abilities oscillate also in the course of the school year. At the beginning of the school year a certain stagnation of motoric ability is noticed; during the period December-June the motoric and morphologic state somewhat improves; the most critical is the period between June and September, i. e. during the time of summer school holidays, when so the motoric as the morphologic status worsens drastically. Out of the factors of burdening, motoric and morphologic self-image are those which are most connected with physical and psychic fatigue and functional health disturbances.
