Abstract     In the last ten years injuries were the most frequent cause of death after cardiovascular diseases and neoplasms. Among all the causes of death in the same period the share of injuries ranges from 9.3 to 11.7 - for men the share is two times higher than for women. In the same period the share of hospitalized for injuries was on average 11 percent, two times higher in men than in women. In the year 1982 the hospitalization for injuries was on the 4th place according to the frequency and in the year 1991 on the 1st place. Injuries are the most common cause for sivkness leave in workmen, while in workwomen injuries are on the 5th place as the cause of temporary loss of working ability.
