Abstract     In patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases, the estimation of activity may be difficult on the basis of clinical examination, conventional radiological procedures and even using standard spin-echo sequence MRI. The presence of actively inflammed synovium is the most objective indication of active inflammatory rheumatic disease. Actively inflammed synovium 16 hypervascular and pathologicaly permeable enabling accumulation of intravenousely adminiatrated paramagnetic contrast agents, Gd-DTPA.
