Abstract     The management of patients with major injuries in the world has been the subject of much discussion and debate over the past 20 years. The reports from the world emphasised that experienced consultants in various specialties must become more involved in emergency treatment, especially in initial assessment and management of the injured patients. Clinicians involved in the prehospital trauma care continue to be influenced by the American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support course. This contribution follows this sequence.
Summary     Oskrba hudo poškodovanega bolnika je v centru interesa mnogih diskusij zadnjih 20 let.
