Abstract     CFT is a sensitive and reliable method. The warm CFT is the least sensitive of all the compared methods. The cold CFT is more sensitive than the warm one and at least twice as high titers of positive sera are being detected. The poor side of the cold CFT is, that an anticomplementary activity of sera is more frequently observed. The warm and the cold CFT match best (in 97.2 per cent ), somewhat less with ID (in 95.2 per cent or 95.3 per cent respectively) and least with ELISA (in 90.8 per cent or 90.7 per cent respectively). In cases where all the other methods are positive or nečative, both CFT match them very well (in 99.1 per cent ). ID is a more sensitive method than the cold and warm CFT. It matches ELISA less (in 91.1 per cent ) than CFT. In cases where all the other methods are positive or negative, it matches them well (in 98.3 per cent ). ELISA is a rather sensitive method, but sometimes it is also nonspecific because of the cross-reactions with other antibodies. It matches the other methods poorly. It matches somewhat better, but still least of all the compared ones (in 93.8 per cent ) the other methods, when they are all positive or all negative. In our performance of ELISA it turned out that the best limit, above which a serum was considered positive, was a 3-fold absorbance of the standard negative serum.
