Abstract     Theoretical Background: Literature does not provide evidence for the crystallization of sodium chloride (NaCl) in the Foley catheter (FC). Purpose: Identify the eventual various crystallization points in the FC and inthe filling tube. Methods: Laboratory controlled In Vitro environment on sample 15 FC and 10 tracheal tubes, heated for 28 days at a temperature 37 °C,filled with the NaCl in WFI. Results: NaCl was crystallized on the filling valves. The volume of the crystals was small and limited, without deflation failure FC. Conclusion: The results show only the partial crystallization in the filling valve FC. We do not recommend replacement of NaCl with WFI in case of mistake, since this would increase the risk of catheter associated urinary tract infection.
Summary     Teoretična izhodišča: Literatura ne ponuja trdnih dokazov o kristalizaciji fiziološke raztopine (FR) v polnilnem sistemu in balonu Foleyjevega katetra (FK). Cilj: Ugotoviti morebitna različna mesta kristalizacije FR v polnilni cevki in balonu FK.
