Abstract     Amputation of the toungue in the region of frenulum linguae after extensive lesions has been performed in an eight year old rnare and a six-months old female foal. In both cases lesions were caused by fixation of animals with a snare, putt on the lower jaw, which captured the tongue too. Surgical operation was done under deep narcosis. The tongue was amputated on the place of lesion. During the first two days after operation both animals took only drinkmg water, from the 3rd to the 8th day soft hay and crumbled grain were given. After that time normal meals have been offered and both animals have normally drunk water and laten meals. After operation the female foal has not been able to suckle any more.
