Abstract     A comaparative study aimed to evaluate effects of conventional therapy vs. multichannel neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) therapy has been carried out on the group of 20 hemiplegic patients. According to the Latin square experimental design each patient served as his own control. Differences between therapies have been evaluated using the Fugl-Meyer test for scoring physical status of the patient, and by measuring stride length, stride velocity and stride time. The statistical analysis showed significantly greater improvement in gait during the therapy with multichannel NMES.
