Abstract | ln order to be able to identify problems in a company linked to health, well-being, availability of workers and safety at work, it is necessary to analyse the data available and show them by means of indicators. An available indicator in the Republic of Slovenia is sick leave that has been monitored by the Institute for Health Protection for twenty years. An increasing number of studies confirm that mental and behavioural disorders and circulatory system diseases are closely Iinked and affect one another. Among the diagnoses of the circulatory system diseases, acute myocardial infarction and essential (primary) arterial hypertension are most common in men, while women more commonly suffer from mental and behavioural disorders, most frequently from a depressive episode and reaction to severe stress and adaptive disorders. Data on sick leave until 2008 do not yet show clear consequences of the economic crisis, which - as studies have shown - exerts influence on mental and behavioural disorders as well as on heart and vascular system diseases. | |
