Abstract     This contribution presents data on the use of iIIegal psychoactive substances (PAS) among Slovene employees gathered in a telephone survey in November 2008. More than 90 % of those surveyed had already heard of marijuana, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and methadone. Lifetime use of any il/egal drug amounted to 17.7 %, the majority of which was connected with marijuana use. Marijuana was the first iIIegal drug used by the respondents. //Iegal drugs were more often used by men and young male and female employees (aged 18-29). The first drug used was usual/y given to them by their friends or shared in a group of friends, only few bought it. More than 90 % of the surveyed employees thought regular use of PAS was related to seriaus risks to one's health and wel/-being. According to the majority of the respondents, the family has responsibility for dealing with the problems related to the il/egal PAS use.
